The lack of education within the Performance Marketing Industry is for a lack of a better word – pitiful. One reason being, most of the Affiliate Networks out there are too busy stealing their affiliate campaigns, signing the next $40 rebill advertiser and promoting “flogs” or just altogether forgetting that the best offense in any online business to attract “high-quality” affiliates is to have a personality and actually use the knowledge we’ve acquired over the years in this business and give back to those “green-horn” affiliates that are coming online everyday and looking for someone they can trust to help develop their business.
In this post, I want to explain 3 things that can literally kill your affiliate marketing business.
The first one:
You know the top 3 most destructive things I’ve seen bring down large affiliates? Did you know it’s the same thing that prevents large affiliates into creating multi-million dollar businesses?
1. The don’t properly brainstorm
2. They don’t accurately & efficiently plan projects
3. They don’t create “To-Do” Lists (scatter-brained)
The sad part is that in affiliate marketing, if you can come up with angles to present to markets in a creative way that makes them take action in whatever solution you provide them, you can and will make money. It’s that fucking simple.
Sadly, the top 3 problems I’ve seen crash many talented marketers is that they don’t setup to “creatively-own” their target market. Listen, if you’re not going to be “in it, to win it,” then what’s the fucking point of even trying to market? Now in my youthful days, I would go on a rant here and point out all the dumb flaws in these 3 but I’m not going to do that. That wouldn’t accomplish anything here, nor would you get any value from it except maybe a drama laugh. I’m going to give you a simple scenario and run-through of each one of the categories above. Brainstorming, Project Planning, and To-Do List. It would take me fucking forever so use these visual maps to your advantage.
Ok now, project planning is not that difficult. The reason why most affiliates do not do it is because it is monotonous and repetitive. God forbid, they have to do a little grunt work. You see it’s been programmed in our brains for ages -> We do not like doing shit, unless it benefits us instantly. We are an instant-gratification race. Unfortunate for a lot who will try their hand on affiliate marketing and burn through a lot of money before giving up. If you train yourself to do these boring tasks at the beginning of your business, I am willing to bet you will see dramatic improvements to the next offer you promote.
Just going through my graphics here, I pulled out one of my project-planning visuals. Now, this visual is not the “be all, end all” It is also one that we have given out to a lot of affiliates over the last year, many of which, have been able to become wildly successful online.
Do you often feel overwhelmed by the amount of work you have to do, or do you find yourself missing deadlines? Or do you sometimes just forget to do something important, so that people have to chase you to get work done? All of these are symptoms of not keeping a proper “To-Do List.” To-Do Lists are prioritized lists of all the tasks that you need to carry out. They list everything that you have to do, with the most important tasks at the top of the list, and the least important tasks at the bottom.
By keeping a To-Do List, you make sure that your tasks are written down all in one place so you don’t forget anything important. And by prioritizing tasks, you plan the order in which you’ll do them, so that you can tell what needs your immediate attention, and what you can leave until later.
While creating and using to-do lists is relatively simple, there are some tips and tricks you can use to multiply their effectiveness. Personally, I like to mindmap mine out. It’s pretty simple, here’s a snapshot you can use for motivation to create your own!
