It’s 3 A.M Jan 1, 2018 and I just woke up. This is not my usual waking time, but every once and a while, you have a dream or an idea that pops in your head that is just so good you can’t do anything but wake up, freshly ready to implement this idea and get it going as soon as possible. This is exactly the state of mind I am in.
But there is a problem for some of you out there that might have had this problem before. You might not have the resources, money, tools, skills or know the right people to get this done. In order to effectively be able to get any idea into production that you might have as soon as possible, this post should be of great help to you.
Communicate and Grow Your Social Worth
As soon as you know you are moving into this industry, or any industry as a business owner, get to know everyone in it. There are hundreds of affiliate marketing blogs, forums, Facebook groups and meetups that you can join and get to know people with. Find people near you that do what you do and explore your options with them. Find out each others strengths and weaknesses. Partner up and befriend them. Provide assistance and help. Share some knowledge and you in return will usually receive, as well.
Know Where You Can Send Work 24/7
Growing your social worth on a global scale is important because you will be able to find someone up and possibly able to help you whether its 4 PM or 4 AM in my case. Luckily, in my case, I’ve grown my social network so much in Thailand that I’ve found developers and designers that stay up in the wee-early morning hours in order to work with international clients. My normal employees based around Thailand and the ASEAN region, are all sleeping, so I might have to wait 6-8 hours before they are up and working for me on their own. By knowing more people and having them on a digital rolodex of sorts, knowing their skills and their ability to be able to help out on projects on the fly, I can get things in development and finished almost as soon as I have that idea – whether its a tool of some sort, a landing page or banners for some ads, or any other kind of project I need done.
Always Have Cash on Hand
I save about 10 percent of the money I make for rainy day activities. Another 10% or so is reserved for living expenses such as rent, food, and other bills. The other 80% is all put back into my business. This allows me to always have some sort of backup supply of money, number 1 for emergencies (Always try to have at least a couple thousand dollars in the bank for medical emergencies for you, your family or pet, accidents, and other emergencies that might pop up, and number 2, for projects like this. If I wasn’t able to pay for services done this early time of day, its unlikely I would get anywhere. Get to know your new friends rates, and if they are too much for what you need, if you have a certain skillset they could use, see if you can’t work out a non-monetary agreement of some sort. Another idea you could implement is profit-sharing. Before you share any ideas, though, draw up a non-disclosure and non-compete agreement, depending on how much you know about the person.
Write Down a Plan of Action as Soon as You Wake Up with Great Ideas
One thing I had to do was write down the idea I was having as soon as I woke up. When you have a great idea it is very rare you will forget about it, but for some reason, when I wake up with great ideas like this my brain activity goes off the charts. When I start writing, it gets my original ideas on paper, but then I start coming up with many other great ideas. My original idea was to make 1 excellent tool that would benefit thousands of affiliate marketers on a couple specific traffic platforms, but now its turned into 3 tools all built into one. Now that I have my ideas on paper, I have something more concrete than just an idea. I have the draft to the beginning of a business plan. A plan is much more effective at getting outside help than a simple idea. Write down the fullest description of your idea, then write down the steps needed to get that done.
I need to develop the tool, beta test it, put together videos on how to use it, write/design a landing page, and set up payment processing – so as you can see, this isn’t something that is as simple as a tiny idea. It’s turned into a real project and has started being turned into a plan and a real project within 5 minutes of me waking up.
How do you guys get stuff done at odd hours of the day? Thanks for reading and help me out by liking, sharing, and commenting on this post below!
